My Student's Essay

The Key to Success

Life is nothing but one large obstacle course that abounds in plenty of hardships and difficulties. The essential key to overcoming these conflicts is self-confidence along with determination and courage. Not too long ago, I was able to pursue my dreams and actualize them with the help of these key elements.

Two years ago, my class was assigned to participate in a play directed by our teachers. We were informed to begin practicing right away, and I was given the role of the narrator. We practiced and rehearsed for one month before the teachers began sending invitations to our parents and the rest of the school. After learning that there would be a large number of people watching, I felt tense and nervous, for I was the central character in the play and I felt that I was not ready to act in front of a great audience.

The night of the play, I was on the edge of collapsing from fear. My parents and friends tried to calm me down, but all I could think of was the number of eyes that would be staring up at me. As I sat backstage, waiting for my cue, I tried calming myself down. Then I heard my name and my heart began beating furiously. I stood up and a sudden realization hit me. I shouldn't care for anyone's thoughts or impressions towards me, for I could accomplish anything with my own strong will and determination.

I took a deep breath and entered the stage. Throughout the whole play, I did not once feel nervous or hesitant. In fact, I felt my self-confidence and determination radiating through me. After the play, all my friends and family came to congratulate me on my success. I couldn't have been happier.

In conclusion, I learned from this experience that the obstacles and challenges we face in life could fall behind us immediately only if we have courage, determination, confidence, and the belief of being able to make the impossible possible.
